Delsie Series: Columned Glass, Tailored Glow

Hello, I’m Hermanlamps—your lighting design partner.
Today we’re spotlighting Delsie, a collection that turns dining rooms and great rooms into quietly cinematic spaces. Slim brass or bronze architecture supports stacked columnar glass—each tube hand-formed with subtle striations so light travels down the length like liquid. Choose Clear for crystalline brilliance or Smoke for a moody, modern wash. The result is illumination that feels tailored, timeless, and beautifully livable.

The Design Story: From Fluted Shadow to Faceted Glow

It started with a shadow.

One of our designers was walking past a 1920s storefront in Turin when the late sun hit its fluted glass door. The grooves didn’t just let light through—they stacked it, casting crisp vertical bands that felt architectural and calm. That rhythm became the brief: capture the quiet drama of fluted glass and translate it into a chandelier that feels tailored, modern, and eminently livable.

Sketch → Structure

Back at the table, the team sketched a “glass curtain” built from slim, ribbed prisms—rectangular bars that read light and shadow in equal measure. We staggered their heights to create movement without bulk, and anchored them on a minimal frame so what you notice is the glass, not the hardware.

  • Modules: narrow fluted prisms in alternating lengths for a soft tiered edge

  • Frame: lean brass or bronze rails, TIG-welded for rigidity and clean sightlines

  • Proportion: generous drop, compact footprint—so it plays well over long tables, kitchen islands, or in airy entries

How the Delsie Glass Is Made

The effect you see—the crisp verticals, the subtle rainbow at the edges—comes from the way each piece of glass is formed and finished.

  1. Optical-grade melt
We start with low-iron crystal for maximum clarity (no green cast), then cast into narrow billets.

  2. Flute forming
Each billet is hot-pressed through precision steel dies to create the deep, parallel ribs you see in the photos. This isn’t a surface texture; the flutes are integral to the glass, which is why they stay sharp and luminous over time.

  3. Cut, bevel, flame-polish
Bars are cut to length, the edges are beveled, and the ends are flame-polished so light travels cleanly and refracts with that subtle prismatic sparkle.

  4. Anneal & drill
A controlled annealing cycle relieves stress for durability. Mounting holes are made with water-cooled diamond bits to avoid micro-fractures and keep the edges pristine.

  5. Two finishes of light

    • CLEAR: pure, high-definition refraction—bright and crisp

    • SMOKE: a kiln-tinted tone introduced during the melt, adding depth and a moody, evening-glass glow

Hardware & Assembly

The metalwork is intentionally quiet. Brass or Bronze frames are hand-sanded and plated (never painted) for depth of tone. Micro-hardware and a jigged layout keep every prism perfectly parallel. In assembly, each bar is hung by hand, sighted from below, and the tier is balanced for an even, tailored edge. We run dimming tests (2700–3000K) to be sure the flutes soften glare while keeping the room bright and usable.

Why it feels different

Those fluted prisms don’t just decorate—they organize the light. Vertical ribs calm down hot spots, the polished ends add a faint spectral shimmer, and the staggered heights turn the silhouette into a refined, architectural line. CLEAR reads fresh and crystalline; SMOKE adds intimacy and contrast. Either way, the Delsie’s glow is the quiet kind of drama that never tires.

What’s in the Delsie Family (and where each shines)

Delsie Oval 51" Chandelier
For 72–84" dining tables and cozy breakfast rooms—serious presence without dominating a standard dining space.

Delsie Oval 63" Chandelier
Our most requested size for 8–10 seaters and kitchen islands. The stretched ellipse brings an intentional, custom look to long rooms.

Delsie Oval 72" Chandelier
Statement scale for large dining rooms, great rooms, and open-plan spaces. The long run of glass reads luxurious yet airy.

Delsie Round Chandelier · 38" / 48" / 60"
A circular centerpiece for round tables and square rooms. Choose 38" for intimate dining, 48" for everyday family tables, or 60" for grand, double-height volumes.

Finish & Glass Pairings

Brass + Clear Glass
Bright, classic, and festive. Pairs with light oak, Calacatta/Carrara, linen upholstery, unlacquered brass hardware. Keeps spaces fresh and open.

Brass + Smoke Glass
Warm metal with a moody veil. Beautiful with travertine, taupe limewash, boucle, and natural woods—adds depth to neutral palettes.

Bronze + Clear Glass
Crisp contrast that still feels grounded. Works with dark cabinetry, black accents, stone counters, and mixed metals.

Bronze + Smoke Glass
The most dramatic pairing—charcoal stone, walnut, saddle or espresso leather, and plaster walls love this one. Perfect for cozy, layered rooms.

Sizing & Hanging Tips (save this)

  • Dining tables (oval/rectangular): fixture length ≈ ⅔–¾ of table length; hang the bottom 30–34" above the tabletop (8–9' ceilings).

  • Round tables: chandelier diameter ≈ ½–⅔ of table diameter.

  • Islands (with the 63" oval): center over the countertop; maintain 30–36" from counter to fixture bottom.

  • Entries: keep at least 7' floor clearance; for double-height foyers, center in the vertical volume.

Bulbs, Dimming & Care

  • Use dimmable LEDs (2700–3000K). Clear glass sparkles at higher output; Smoke turns velvety at dinner-party levels.

  • Clean tubes with a microfiber cloth and a light glass spritz. The flame-polished rims resist dust and wipe easily.

Custom Options

Need a different size, drop, or finish? We can tailor overall length/width, rod/chain and canopy, swap Brass/Bronze, or specify Clear/Smoke mixes to suit your palette. Send your room dimensions—we’ll map proportion and hanging height.

Why Homeowners Love the Delsie Series

  • Columned glass that feels architectural yet light.

  • Brass or Bronze frameworks that age gracefully.

  • A complete family (oval and round sizes) to carry one cohesive story across rooms.

  • Hand-finished details that read custom, not mass-made.
