Today we’re spotlighting a collection that turns everyday rooms into quietly cinematic spaces: the Amor Series. Inspired by famously adorned Italian glasswork, Amor uses curved, textured “ghiaccio” glass to soften and scatter light, while plated-brass or oil-rubbed bronze frames ground the sparkle with warm, architectural lines. The result? Illumination that feels tailored, timeless, and beautifully livable.

The Design Story: Poetry in Textured Glass

It started on a quiet afternoon in Venice. Our designer stood beneath a row of centuries-old palazzi, watching late sun skim across their wavy window glass. The light didn’t blast straight through—it bent, softened, and scattered into a gentle haze. That moment became the brief: capture that softened, lived-in glow and give it a modern shape.

From Sketch to Form

Back in the studio, we reduced the idea to three essentials:

1. Curved planes of glass to bend light,

2. Slim, repeating modules to build tiers without bulk,

3. Warm metal to frame the sparkle like jewelry.

Dozens of silhouettes were sketched and mocked up in paper and acrylic. The winner was a family of arched, textured “ghiaccio” pieces—each one slightly curved so they nest together into tiers that feel architectural yet airy.

Making the Ghiaccio Glass

The glass is where the softness happens. We start with low-iron crystal for clarity, then:

• Heat & Slump: Sheets are heated and gently slumped over custom forms to achieve the soft arc.

• Texture: While still workable, each piece is pressed with a ghiaccio pattern—a subtle, rippled surface that breaks up glare and turns points of light into a calm, ambient wash.

• Anneal & Trim: The pieces are annealed for strength, edges are hand-polished, and any micro-burrs are removed so light rolls off the surface cleanly.

No two runs are identical—that’s the charm. The variance is tiny, but it’s what gives the glass a handmade, watery depth.

Building the Frame

The structure is engineered like a bridge—slim but strong:

• Laser-cut rings and arms keep weight down and geometry true.

• Joints are TIG-welded, then the frame is meticulously sanded.

• Metal gets a plated-brass or oil-rubbed bronze finish (not paint), so the tone is deep and the sheen lasts.

• Micro-hardware (tiny hang points) is aligned by jig, ensuring every glass piece hangs perfectly parallel.

Assembly, Balance & Light Tests

Each fixture is dry-fit in our lab:

• Glass is hung one piece at a time to balance tiers and check sightlines from below.

• We run dimming tests with warm-white LEDs (2700–3000K) to make sure the ghiaccio texture diffuses light evenly at both dinner-party glow and full task brightness.

• Final QC includes load, shake, and finish checks, then careful packing by layer so installation day is simple and safe.

Result: a collection that feels like those Venetian windows—quietly luminous, architectural in form, and crafted to live beautifully in real homes.

Sizing & Hanging Tips (Save this!)

• Dining tables: chandelier width ≈ ½ to ⅔ the table width; bottom of fixture 30–34" above tabletop (standard 8–9' ceilings).

• Islands: pendants spaced ~24–30" apart; bottom of shade 30–36" above counter.

• Entries: keep at least 7' clearance from floor to fixture bottom; for double-height foyers, center the piece in the vertical volume.

• Flush mounts: perfect for 8' ceilings where you still want decorative glass and real ambiance.

Finish & Styling Notes

1. Brass + Ghiaccio smoke glass
   Warm with a soft, moody glow. Pairs well with oak floors, travertine, linen upholstery, and unlacquered brass hardware; adds depth to neutral palettes and taupes.

2. Brass + Ghiaccio clear glass
   Bright, airy, and classic. Perfect with light oak, Carrara/Calacatta marble, white or plaster walls, and natural linens; keeps spaces fresh and open.

3. Bronze + Ghiaccio  smoke glass
   Rich, dramatic contrast. Complements charcoal or soapstone, walnut cabinetry, black accents, bouclé, and saddle or espresso leather; great for cozy, layered rooms.

4. Bronze + Ghiaccio clear glass
   Crisp yet grounded. Works beautifully with dark woods, limewash walls, stone counters, and mixed bronze/black hardware; balances modern lines with warmth.

Bulb & glow: Use dimmable LEDs in warm white (2700–3000K). The textured glass loves dimmers—dial down for a velvety evening wash, up for task-ready clarity.

• Hand-assembled frames and individually cast/formed glass pieces ensure each fixture feels artisanal, not mass-made.

• Quick clean: microfiber cloth + a puff of glass cleaner. Textured pieces hide minor prints and dust better than smooth glass—everyday friendly.
